The role of influencers in the decision-making journey and how to best work with them continues to dominate discussion within PR and marketing. Recent studies, such as the Edelman Trust Barometer 2018 and this research from Prizeology, point to an erosion in trust between influencers and the public, where once they enjoyed good levels of authority.
To discuss this topic, I sat down with fellow independent consultants, Scott Guthrie and Ste Davies, and in this – our first of three episodes on influencers – we discuss where we are at the moment, looking at:
- Has there really been an erosion of trust between the public and influencers?
- Has the media gone after influencers because they feel threatened?
- Are microinfluencers overlooked?

Big thanks to the PRCA for allowing us to use a meeting room to record in. I train on Influencer Relations for the PRCA, you can find out more about that and other training sessions on the PRCA website.
